If they aren't right it is going to be hard to get the transmission to shift right under all load combinations and you sooner or later you will be fixing the transmission. The only real way to do that, I think, is to have the trans pan off and see if it is fully extended when the throttle pedal is floored. You need the low-vac switch so the converter will unlock in low vacuum situations, such as going up hill and heavy throttle.
The piece in the middle of the drum is what broke off and shattered. Ebay has changed so much over recent years that it is hard to even compare it to when it started. Let's get into the details!
The cancel switch is mounted on a bracket under the dash. For safety considerations, it is desirable to retain a switch in the system with this function. Add transmission fluid through the transmission fill tube, checking the fluid level every quart to prevent over filling. Before you change any wiring, find the solenoid arrow, what are the top dating photo A and the two wires connected to it.
The ground side of the circuit is provided by the method described below. If the transmission does need to be replaced I highly recommend replacing it with a re-manufactured unit. The idle stop screw is used to regulate the minimum idle speed of the engine. We will not spend time in this article discussing hydraulic pre load because it will just confuse the issue. Before checking minimum idle speed be sure the ignition timing is correct and, be sure the throttle body is clean around the throttle plates.
- This switch will allow current flow, only when it is depressed.
- Will the tranny clear the headers?
- Press the transmission pan back onto the transmission and hand-tighten the bolts that secure the pan to the transmission.
- It is not longer at the full out position.
- This will kill them in hurry.
The only fix is to rebuild the transmission or replace it with a re-manufactured unit. Proving this relationship is correct can only be done by the installer. Now again, with so many different variations of these things, you may also have a single wire solenoid. With the engine at normal idle, the pressure should be at minimum regulated pressure or slightly higher.
Re 700r4 TCC/lockup wiring
Peek under a hot rod today and it's not uncommon to find an automatic overdrive resting between the frame rails. The blue, or in some applications dark green, wire terminal B is connected to the fourth gear overdrive switch in the valve body. With out the proper turning radius at this hook-up point, the transmision will never operate properly. You see the two terminals that you need to hook to. Now hook the cable back up, with the adjuster out towards the carb.
Put on safety glasses and place a large drain pan under the transmission pan. Now, this is only a belief of mine. The following is an overview of this system as we understand it.

Be careful not to damage the gasket! White arrow above picture. Set it for full pull on the cable is full throttle on the carb.
3x2 to r4 TV hook up
Here is some info I have found. The lockup converter allows me to have a high stall and cruise on the highway. You will need to install a female spade connector on the end of the black wire and run that wire to the new pressure switch photo B.

The only other modification that I had to do is to cut off a section of the case to clear my headers. The rear seal can easily be replaced by just removing the driveshaft. Some of these problems are minor but some can shorten the life of the transmission dramatically! Cars with low mileage are more prone to leaks than high mileage cares. You don't need to have it, just something I wanted.
Please don't send me any hate email saying that the R is the best tranny since sliced bread. The pressure switch is located on the righthand side of the trans. The transmission has the following dimensions and gear ratios Case to ext Housing.
Some mounting tabs from different sources are now available for different carbs if you don't feel like doing this yourself. Are you are doing this mod for one of the reasons I did, to get rid of some of the wiring and vacuum hoses that came on our trucks. The photos in the article are of a R tranny.
How does a R4 work
Never attempt to drive a vehicle with low transmission fluid. The red wire from the solenoid will be run to the new single-pin connector photo C. Will the tranny will fit in the car?
TCI R / R4 Universal Lockup Wiring Kit
Shown at left in the fully extended and fully depressed positions. The one I put in is the unit made for the Camaro center console. Common failure points on the governor are the gears, the springs coming loose or debris preventing the valve that the governor is connected to from moving. If you can't find a plug, dating online you can either use some slim female spade connectors or solder the wires on. The factory installed a couple of different types of pressure switches depending on the application.
